Libya approves setting up fund to fight the threat of locusts in West Africa.

Algiers, 26.10.2016(Lana) The ten- countries, members of the
committee on fighting locusts in West Africa including Libya approved
Tuesday in Algiers, the setting up of a regional fund to help
countries in the region enhance their strategies in the preventive
measures against this devastating insect.
Algerian news agency quoted Algerian minister of farming as
saying during second meeting of ministers assigned to fight locusts
in these countries as saying that the fund would help the fight
against locusts by creating various intervention mechanisms at the
appropriate time and activate national strategies in the field.
The six-million fund would be financed by members states ;
Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritanian, Mali, Niger, Burkina, Chad
and Senegal as well as other donors wishing to support this strategy.
