Al- Saour: Large quantities of narcotics caught in air and naval ports and investigated by Attorney General's Office.

..3 Tripoli, 11.02.2016(Lana) Head of Investigations at Attorney General's Office, Al-Sadiq Al- Saour confirmed Thursday That there are quantities of various types of narcotics that were caught in airports, seaports and land border crossing points and are all being investigated by the Attorney General's Office. At a press conference Thursday, At Tripoli Courts Compound, Head of investigations at Attorney General's Office, Al-Sadiq Al-Saour, said 90% of the cases were referred to the specialized courts. The cases are related to smuggling of spirits, tranquilizers and narcotics and hundreds of tons of hashish, he explained. He revealed that there are 62 cases related to smuggling of narcotics through Libyan border points were referred to the specialized courts. He said the value of narcotics caught estimated at 197 million LD and hallucinations tablets estimated at 1.5 million LD and spirits at 6 million LD. He also said 4 tankers were caught smuggling oil and the cases were referred to the courts. Al-Saour also touched on the issue of detainees who were not referred to the prosecution or the courts, stating that not referring those arrested to the prosecution or the judiciary amounts to a crime of restricting freedom and kidnapping and it is the right of the affected citizens or their relatives to take legal action and observe controls stated in the penal law related to arrests and searches and detention periods. He said the Attorney General's Office received many complaints by local and international rights organizations, and that the former issued instructions to many bodies to provide it with the list of the detainees, the reason for their detention in order to commission investigations and take action for releasing the detainees by law for those who committed no crime. He also referred to the Special Deterrence Force in Tripoli saying they held many criminal and organized crime gangs and many of them are detained with the police stations and criminal investigations, confirming that the Attorney General's Office assigned 10 members of the prosecution to start investigations with the defendants and take legal action against them. =Lana=
