Paris, 27 August 2105(Lana) The UN Special Envoy o Libya
Bernardino Leon has said he was optimistic about Libyan political
parties readiness to agree to formation of a national unity
government by mid September.
In a televised interview last night, Bernardino said 'I'm still
convinced that by September 10 or so, we would be able to reach a
final agreement.'
There are still outstanding issues for every party, but I think
we have never been so close to an agreement, and it would be a tragic
thing not to be able to reach an agreement as the parties positions
draw closer and closer to one another, Leon said.
In his response to a question whether there would be an
international intervention to confront Da'esh, Leon said 'the
priority now is to reach a political agreement, Libya's main weapon
against Da'esh is unity.'
