Al Serraj and Haftar: Committed to Activate Political Agreement, Crisis Solution Only Political.

Paris, 26 July 2017(Lana) The President of the Presidency Council of the Government of National Accord Fayez Al Serraj and the Khalifa Haftar expressed their commitment to the Political Agreement and to continue the UN-backed dialogue. In a joint statement issued after the meeting in Paris hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, Al Serraj and Haftar acknowledged that the solution in Libya cannot but be political, through a national reconciliation that brings all Libyans together including key players in the military and security institutions, and allow the return of displaced and refugees. they stressed the need for applying Article 34 of the Political Agreement over security arrangements, and to follow up the consultations being made by the UN Special Envoy to Libya which could provide a basis for comprehensive political dialogue with participation of the House of Representatives and the High State Council. AlSerraj and Hafatr expressed commitment to a ceasefire and to avoid resorting to force in all situations except those related to fighting terrorism, and protection of Libyan state sovereignty.
