Kobler stresses the need to end human rights and impunity.

Tripoli, 22.02.2017(Lana) The UN envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler has expressed profound concern over continuous reports about dangerous violations of humanitarian international law and human rights law across Libya, according to a UNSMIL post. In statement Wednesday, Kobler called on all parties to send a strong message that such acts are not acceptable at all, and support such messages with credible investigations to identify the perpetrators of these crime and hold them to account. It is high time to end gross violations perpetrated throughout Libya, and reminded all parties that those responsible for perpetrating such acts that include holding hostages, torture and extrajudicial execution, and indiscriminate shelling , descretion of corpses, or issue orders or failure to prevent it when they are able to, will be subject to criminal accountability including at the International Criminal Court, he added. Kobler warned that the continuing fighting in residential areas still subjects civilians to danger in an environment rife with criminal and political kidnapping.
