Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 21 July 2016(Lana) The Presidential Council of the
Government of National Accord has expressed its discontent over
announcement by the French Government of the presence of French
military men in the eastern part of Libya without prior knowledge or
coordination with the Council.
The Council has conducted direct contacts at the highest level with
the French authorities to get to know the reasons for the military
presence, details and interpretation of the incident that happened,
the Council said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by the
Libyan news agency.
The Council will not give away the sovereignty of the Libyan state,
rejects violation of the Libyan territory, but it welcomes any
assistance from sisterly and friendly countries in the war against
Da'esh, provided that this assistance was requested by it, and in
what preserves the national sovereignty, given that the Council is
the sole legitimate body in the country, the statement said.
The Council said it valued the international effort to fight State
Organization Da'esh, adding we are aware of the need for
international collective effort to eliminate this menace, but this
can by no means warrant an intervention without our prior knowledge
and coordination.
The Council called on Libyan parties to join the legitimacy of GNA
council which emanated from the consensual legitimacy consented by
Libyans to be the sole method to reunite the country and ensure
stability and prosperity for the people of Libya.
